The first thing to mention with this new glass collection is the superb build quality. Each piece is made from thick, borosilicate glass, except the catchall ashtrays which are made of premium quality crystal glass.
Borosilicate is a tough, heat-resistant glass often referred to using brand names such as Pyrex. Borosilicate glass construction ensures that your smoking pipe will not crack or shatter when heated up by a lighter or torch. The glass is also completely inert, meaning no leaching of nasty chemicals like you may experience with an acrylic bong. All these smoking pipes are made to maximise airflow for a smooth, cool hit. The larger waterpipes are equipped with advanced glass percolators and diffusers which creates torrents of aerated water inside the main chamber to rapidly cool the smoke and remove impurities like ash and rogue plant matter or tobacco. The largest waterpipes even have integrated ice notches, allowing you to place ice cubes in the neck of the pipe and draw the smoke over the ice for a frosty-cool hit.

Who was Keith Haring?

Keith Haring was an American artist who found international fame in the 1980s. Haring’s work first started gaining recognition in New York City after he began drawing on black advertising panels in the New York subways. Originally drawn in chalk, these images attracted admiration and affection from New Yorkers who became entranced by Haring’s bold designs. These works evolved into designs on all types of media from paper to plastic and metal that began to take on a styling entirely of their own. Characterised by graffiti-style images of barking dogs, crawling babies and large hearts in bright, vibrant colour schemes, Haring’s work began to attract exhibition space and was to become an iconic part of New York’s legendary art scene of the time.

Keith Haring was a friend and contemporary of other iconic New York artists such as Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. After his premature death in 1990, Haring’s work attracted more and more critical acclaim. Thanks to the work of The Keith Haring Foundation, many of Haring’s works can be seen in galleries and exhibitions all over the world. There is also an extensive legacy of unmistakable sculptures and murals dotted around towns and cities across the globe.
Through the medium of this stunning artwork, The Keith Haring Foundation carries on the artist’s philanthropic work and provides grants to needy children and those suffering from HIV and AIDS.
